Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Santa was good to us, and Deacon loved him! How fun is Christmas when your kid is old enough to open presents?!

Deacon got spoiled rotten from Grandpa Nelson

Lovin' Santa!

But not to excited about the tow truck Santa brought him

Santa brought a "big boy" chair for Deacon and a mini laptop (now maybe he'll leave mine alone...)

Can't wait until next year when Evan will be here! (Yes, that's the official name of baby #2!!)

She’s back!!

It’s official! Maria is back home! She arrived yesterday afternoon and I’m so glad she’s back! I think I can speak for the entire family when I say we are very proud of you. Going back to school is no easy task, especially all the way across the country where you don’t know anyone! I know you miss your friends already, but we missed you more and want you home! Plus you escaped right before another frigid Minnesota winter (not that Utah is any better!) Welcome Home!!

Family Pictures!

It was that time of year again. Terry’s dad did some family pictures and I was able to snag a few copies. They turned out pretty cute except for the fact that I am preggers and totally fat in them!

Bye bye, Arizona

It’s official. We are no longer residents of Arizona! I know, we’ve been here 18 months now, but we finally got our Utah drivers licenses. Let’s just say Utah could learn a thing or two from Arizona. My AZ license doesn’t expire until 2044. Yeah, that’s right, 35 years from now! I don’t really know why they do that, but it works. Apparently Utah is now only good for 5 years (the last I remember it was 7). I haven’t had to physically go in and get a new license since I was 21! I renewed by mail, which meant I still had the “old school” license. Apparently the design has changed a few times, so it will be nice to see the real thing in 2 weeks when they mail it to me (again, Arizona makes it right there for you. Just sayin’). My biggest complaint is that my UT license doesn’t expire for another year, and they won’t renew it now, which means I have to go back there in a year and do it all over again!! Gah! If I would have known that I wouldn’t have gotten it done. I survived 18 months without it, so I know I could have gone another year without it. Bottom line is, moving out of state sucks!! Between hygiene licensing, getting a mortgage and drivers licenses, we are done!  No more confusing paperwork, endless phone calls and faxes, or standing in lines that stretch for an eternity with smelly weird people (ok, the lady next to us today was really sweet, but still). So glad to be a Utahan again!!

A sneak peek…

I had my targeted ultrasound today, which gave us our first look at baby #2! I can’t believe how much he looks like Deacon! He kept covering his face with his hands so we only got a few good looks, but I think he’s a cutie!!

Is there a doctor in the house?

Happy Halloween to everybody!! Hope yours was great and you haven’t overdosed on candy yet. Terry decided Deacon should be a doctor, and he even dressed up with him!! (For those of you who know Terry, this NEVER happens).  We made the rounds at all the grandparents’ houses and had a great day!

Despite the crabby look, he did have a good day!

Awww!! Like father, like son (okay, he’s a doctor of pharmaceuticals, but you get the idea!)

I knew it!!

I faithfully watch the bachelor and bachelorette ( I know, roll your eyes) and last season I was praying they would make Jake the next bachelor. Sure enough, they did! Terry is gonna have a cow, because he knows I have a huge crush on him (Terry also watched the bachelorette with me. Don’t know if that is a good thing or bad thing).  I’ve never been so excited for January!

It’s a…

BOY!!!!

Can’t say we’re surprised. Both Terry and I have a feeling all our kids will be boys! I’m so excited for Deacon to have a little brother, and I’m already lecturing him on how to be nice and not beat him up! Right now the baby weighs almost 1 pound and is doing well.

I know it’s hard to tell, but that is a boy part!

Deacon also got his first haircut. Not that he had a lot to begin with, but it was getting pretty shaggy up front. Grandma Jill did the honors, and it turned out quite nice! Deacon did such a good job holding still (AFTER we gave him a sucker!)

Day Trip

I met up with some new friends today at the State Capitol. They are actually friends of Maria’s, but since we share everything… We were just about to set up lunch on the front lawn of the Capitol, when we were politely asked move because we were in the Governor’s shot! We moved over a few feet, and when he was done he came over and apologized. So polite! Then I asked him for pictures, which probably wasn’t so polite, but how often do you meet the Governor? Then we headed in for a tour of the newly renovated Capitol. People, if you haven’t seen it, go to there!! It is very beautiful and ornate, with oodles of history in every room. Deacon was on his best behavior, which is was very abnormal, but it made for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Deacon turned 1 year old today! I can’t  believe it’s been one year ago today that I gave birth to this special little boy. Terry and I were both in shock the whole day remembering the events of last year.  We had a big birthday bash for Deacon on Sunday (it turned into a triple birthday party because that was mine and Maria’s birthday).  Lots of family and friends were there and they spoiled Deacon rotten!

Baby #2 Update

Went to the doctor today, and all is well with baby #2.  Next visit we will officially know the sex, but unofficially we were able to pretty much tell what it is. The doc said girl parts can look big on the ultrasound, but these parts looked “pretty big”.  Guess we will have to wait one more month!

So backwards…

First off, I’m trying a new way to write my blog posts.  Thanks to my sis-in-law Tammy for enlightening me on how to be creative (I am officially the most uncreative person on the planet).  Hope this works… Anyhoo, this post is pretty random but is anyone else excited for fall? I love it!! I love back to school time, even though I haven’t been “back to school” in 3 years.  I love the holiday season, especially Halloween. Morbid, I know, but that’s just the kind of gal I am (look at the book I’m reading). I admit to going to Michael’s just to walk through their Halloween section (It’s an entire spooky town!!)

I love the fall leaves changing from lush green to fire red and pumpkin orange (so glad I was raised in P-town where the canyon is a  10 minute car ride away, and that I no longer get carsick).

I love the cooler temps! Living in Phoenix definitely ruined summer for me. Anything above 90 and I’m done. I guess I’m the opposite of those people who get SAD (seasonal affective disorder). I love a good rainstorm and have been diligently watching the weather for any signs of rain. So far Grant Weyman has been letting me down…

Can’t wait for the holidays! Did I mention normal TV returns too? Including 30 Rock? People, if you are not watching this show, we need to have a serious talk. Liz Lemon rules!

Ps- Little D is trying to walk! I won’t call it official, but he suddenly started walking last night. It was more than the 2 wobbly steps then fall on your butt kind too! Actual steps!! More to come later.

Happy Anniversary!

Anybody else’s blogger template change? Mine is all messed up, so here goes nothing. 9 long years ago Terry and I said “I do!” I can’t quite believe it’s been that long. Terry is the best hubby ever and I really don’t know what I would do without him. Love you lots!! Here’s to 9 more years of happiness, love and diaper changes.

A yard... and an owie

The yard is finally done! Too bad we still can't walk on it for awhile. It's crazy to look out and see green instead of dirt and weeds.

Before

Almost done...

The finished product

So glad to have it done! Now we just need patio furniture...

We had our first big "owie" with Deacon. He fell flat on his face on the wood floor and his tooth went right through his lip! There was so much blood everywhere! We took him to our bishop who is also a dentist and he said it wouldn't need stitches. I'm guessing this is the first of many bloody lips and falls!

Congrats, Dad

Well, my Dad finally to the plunge and married his girlfriend! They've been dating for 4 years and are crazy about each other. Not sure what took so long, but at least they finally did it! Annette is so wonderful and I am very excited to have her in our lives. Congratulations!

Sorry about the bad picture. I ran out of memory space!

It's official!

Yup, I got knocked up again! Baby #2 is due March 16th, 2010. Yes, it was planned, and yes we are a little crazy. I just want all my babies here!! I am 6 weeks along and VERY sick. Pregnancy does not agree with me. If anybody has advice I'd love to hear it! I promise, there's a baby in there. Not even big enough to be a peanut yet!

Deacon turned the big 1-0 in months. So cute sitting all by himself in the bear chair!
